Businesses are of course governed by external regulation and law. As is the nature of this area, these matters are usually subject to national legal systems, rather than international protocols. We intend to expand this section of the web site in the near future. However, we have initially researched the following:
The Sarbanes Oxley Act (US) In the wake of the Enron and WorldCom scandals, this act was signed by President Bush in 2002. It mandates a significant number of requirements with respect to corporate governance and audit.
RESOURCES The most substantial tool at time of publication is the Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Toolkit. This contains various items, such as guides, checklists, and a full summary of the Sarbanes Oxley Act itself, and is available as a download.
The Data Protection Act (UK)
The Data Protection act is now a well established piece of legislation, and has been around since 1984. It was extended in the late nineties, and essentially regulates activity with respect to personal information.
RESOURCES Similar to the above in many respect, the Data Protection Act Kit contains a set of different aids to help compliance with the legislation.
